Armada PAL Board is excited to announce it’s PAL Camp dates for 2021: Sunday August 1st through Saturday August 7th. The PAL Board is already hard at work preparing for a safe and exciting week of camp. I am working closely with the State of Michigan Camp Licensing Consultant to assure that Armada PAL Camp will be meeting all of the health and safety requirements concerning COVID-19. The members of the Board have been hearing from the parents of Armada, that if there was ever a year that our kids needed PAL Camp: Summer 2021 is that year. So mark the dates on your calendar and we will look forward to seeing you at camp registration this spring! Please sign up for our mailing list to ensure that you receive all the communication surrounding camp announcements. Sincerely, Officer Tim To Our Campers:
It is Sunday, August 2nd and I should be welcoming the buses full of campers to PAL camp, but it is with a heavy heart that I know that this will not be the case. For the first time in 36 years, I will not see the smiles and hear the excited voices of Armada’s children as they arrive at camp. I will miss our nights around the campfires, the times down at the waterfront, and our gatherings in the dining hall. For our staff, I know that this is a tough day. They begin planning for PAL Camp months in advance and they will greatly miss their campers. To many of our staff this week is the highlight of their summer, as they return year after year. To our campers, I want you to know that we miss you and we look forward to having you return next summer. As with many things during these challenging times PAL Camp has also been affected. Although it breaks my heart to not be at camp this summer I know it was the right decision for the safety of our campers and staff. I look forward to next year when we will all be together again up at camp, for all of us who have been at PAL Camp know, when it come to camp “It’s A Wonderful World” Sincerely, Officer Tim Dear PAL Families,
With heavy hearts, the Armada Police Athletic League is sad to share with you that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are cancelling PAL Camp 2020. Since early March, the Armada PAL Camp Executive Board has been working tirelessly to monitor COVID-19 and assess the virus’s effect on summer camp programing in Michigan. In April, we asked parents and guardians to respond to a survey which assessed their likelihood to send their children to camp. We have also fielded comments and questions from others in the Armada community including PAL staff, school officials, and our local partners to ensure our decision is based on the best information available. Administrative staff has been in regular contact with Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs officials to discuss incoming regulations that residential and overnight camps may be subject to to address COVID-19 related concerns. On June 2, guidelines were released for day camp operations. We anticipate that incoming regulations for residential and overnight camps will be similar to those day camp guidelines, and the Executive Board has discussed the possible implementation of those guidelines accordingly. However, as of today, residential and overnight camps must still remain closed under executive order across the state. We appreciate your understanding about this difficult decision. The safety and health of our campers and staff is always the highest priority at camp. Please know that the Armada Police Athletic League remains strong. We would like specially to thank the parents and guardians who provided feedback, our amazing volunteer staff, and our Executive Board. Our focus now is to explore programming alternatives so that we may continue our Mission and serve the youth of Armada. Please continue to check our website and follow us on social media to follow how we will continue to keep the spirit of PAL through the summer. You can find a video message regarding this announcement directly from Tim, our camp director here on our website. Sincerely, Armada PAL Executive Board Dear PAL Families,
We hope this email finds you and your family well. During these unprecedented times, Armada PAL knows campers and parents alike are anxious about what the future holds for PAL Camp 2020. As you are aware, the Covid-19 pandemic has brought sudden change to many of our everyday lives. We hope to bring some normality back into our children’s lives, and it is our intention to hold PAL Camp this coming August. The final decision on whether to have PAL camp will be based on applicable state and federal executive orders. We will also seek guidance from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. During this time, we are in constant communication with our state inspector to get the most up-to-date information regarding any changes to our program. Currently, the PAL Board and Camp Staff are working hard to plan for this year’s camp and implement changes that are necessary to comply with state and federal guidelines. We are also working closely with Center Lake Camp to make sure that a comprehensive plan is in place to address the health and safety of our campers and staff related to the Covid-19 outbreak. We know that our campers are itching to get out of the house and back to their normal schedules, and we know parents are ready for their kids to re-engage in normal activities. PAL believes there is no better place to do this than PAL Camp! The safety and health of our campers and staff is always the highest priority at Armada PAL Camp. We look forward to another great year at PAL camp 2020. Sincerely, Tim Woelkers, Camp Director Shirley Frederick, Assistant Camp Director Lindsay Claeys, Assistant Camp Director |
