Camp Leaders
We really like our 8th graders — and we count on them. As they prepare to enter high school, they have a unique opportunity to set a positive tone for the rest of camp by demonstrating responsibility, accountability, good sportsmanship, and a positive attitude. We also encourage them to stay open to new experiences and growth. These traits help us evaluate their eligibility for the PAL Leadership Team.
With that comes the reminder to respect camp privileges and lead by example. Please take a moment to talk with your child about showing respect to all PAL counselors, staff, and younger campers. One simple example: we share meals with the entire camp — so let’s make sure everyone gets their fair share and we leave food for others.

Sleeping ArrangementsUnlike our basecamp campers who stay in cabins, 8th graders sleep in The Cody Lodge, located at the top of the hill — just a short drive down from basecamp. The lodge is named in honor of our friend and former 8th grade counselor, Cody Pagan. While all campers are housed in the same building, lodging is separated by gender for privacy.
During our offsite camping trip, 8th grade campers sleep in separate tents by gender on opposite ends of the campsite, with 2–3 counselors assigned to each tent to provide supervision and support throughout the night. |
Packing ListRemember: It’s camp — so leave your best clothes and shoes at home! Especially at 8th Grade Camp, things are known to get messy.
