Honoring the Legacy of Sara Ledwidge
Our PAL Camp family recently lost a beloved member of our community, Sara Ledwidge, affectionately known to generations of campers and staff as "Safety Sara."
For many years, Sara brought kindness, compassion, and joy to camp. Her bright smile, caring spirit, and unwavering dedication helped create a welcoming environment where every camper felt seen, supported, and safe. It was not uncommon to hear campers enthusiastically chanting "Safety Sara!" as she entered the dining hall—a testament to the impact she had on so many lives.
Alongside her brother, Derek, Sara dedicated countless hours to serving the youth of our community. Together, they helped create opportunities, memories, and experiences that have positively shaped the lives of so many young people. Their commitment to helping others and strengthening our community leaves a legacy that will be felt for generations.
Sara's presence made PAL Camp a better place, and her legacy will continue to inspire us for years to come.
To honor Sara's memory and her commitment to ensuring all children have the opportunity to experience camp, we are establishing the Sara Ledwidge Memorial Camper Scholarship. This scholarship will provide financial assistance each year to a camper in need, helping make the camp experience accessible to future generations.
If you would like to honor Sara's legacy through a contribution to the scholarship fund, we welcome your support. Together, we can ensure that Sara's spirit of generosity, inclusion, and care continues to live on through the campers whose lives she will continue to touch.

OUR MISSION
Armada Police Athletic League is a non-profit organization that has been offering summer camp programming to the youth of Armada since 1984. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment that creates lifelong memories, lasting friendships, and a safe place to allow kids to be kids. As our motto states, we truly believe that Every Kid Needs a PAL.
We are a program made possible and run by volunteer staff for middle-school-aged children. A program designed to instruct, encourage, and empower. We believe that Every Kid Needs a PAL and that motto guides us in every experience that we create during camp week. In doing so, an environment is built where every child and staff member may feel welcome, important, and special.
May this always be our goal.
