For more than 40 years, Armada PAL Camp has been a state-licensed camp bringing Armada middle school students up north for what many call the best week of the summer.
Founded in 1984 by Armada Police Officer Tim Woelkers, PAL Camp began with 103 campers and 27 volunteers at Center Lake Bible Camp. At the time, there were few extracurricular opportunities for middle school students in Armada, and camp quickly became something special for the community.
Today, PAL Camp welcomes around 300 campers in 5th through 8th grade each summer. The camp is proudly seeing second and third generation campers attend — with many former campers now returning as volunteer staff members themselves.
At its core, PAL Camp is about fun, connection, and unplugging from everyday life. For six days, campers trade screens and electronics for cabins, campfires, friendships, and unforgettable memories in the outdoors.
